SUMMARY:

The Math Teacher fosters a passion of learning that encourages student curiosity, engagement, and growth in a welcoming community of learners. Our Math Program follows the DESE grade-level curriculum standards and utilizes a variety of resources as instructional materials.

 

Hudson High School is a grade 8-12 school. Applicants for this position should be certified to teach all grade levels.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSILBILITES:

  • Design and implement units that inspire students to grow and extend their computational, reasoning, and problem solving skills both inside and outside of the math classroom.
  • Assess student progress towards course objectives to inform instruction and provide feedback to students and families.
  • Responsible for teaching various courses and types of High School math based on the needs of the school.
  • Differentiate classroom work to address individual learning needs.
  • Manage student behavior to provide a safe learning environment.
  • Work with Math team to align assessments, instructional strategies and sharing best practices.
  • Work with Principal and staff to support the instructional goals of the school.
  • Develop ongoing communication systems for parents, students, and the community.
  • Build enthusiasm for math learning within the community and foster partnerships with community institutions as well as open the classroom to peer observations.
  • Aligning curricular standards with state guidelines
  • Participates in professional development activities, internal and external, and meets district expectations for licensure recertification

 

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Master's degree preferred
  • Massachusetts DESE license (Grades 8-12)
  • SEI Endorsement
  • Successful completion of Criminal Records Check (CORI), and fingerprints

 

SUPERVISES: Aides, assistants and volunteers as assigned by building principal

 

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Hudson School Committee’s policy on evaluation or in accordance with union contract.

 

WORK YEAR:    

  • 10 months, 183 days
  • 2 personal days, 12 sick days, prorated pursuant to date of hire
  • Benefit Eligible on start date. 30 days to enroll in coverage from start date.

  •  This is a salaried position distributed over 26 paychecks including a lump sum in June to cover summer pay

                       

While performing duties of this job, the employee may often remain in a stationary position for considerable periods of time. The employee will have ample periods of standing and may be required to traverse throughout the building. The employee must frequently use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and use hand strength to grasp tools. Frequently operates a computer and other office productivity machinery (i.e., calculator, copy machine, and computer printer). Physical abilities may also include lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling, stooping/crouching, reaching/handling, talking/hearing conversations, and near/far visual acuity/depth perception/color vision/field. Ability must be able to lift and/or push and pull 15 to 20lbs for short periods, and walk up and down stairs several times a day. The employee must be able to communicate effectively with students, staff members, and the public in person and on the telephone.
