SUMMARY:
Seeking substitute school nurses to work on an as needed basis to cover our health offices when our school nurses are absent, to supplement our school nurses by assisting with screenings and with other nursing activities, and to provide nursing coverage for local field trips. Paid orientation/training is provided.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Administer scheduled and PRN medications and treatments
- Provide care and follow up for acute and chronic health conditions
- Provide emergency care for injury or illness
- Maintain student health records
- Communicate with parents/guardians, health care providers and staff, as appropriate.
- Follow individualized health care plans for students with chronic diseases.
Qualifications:
- At least 1-2 years of recent nursing experience, preferably in school nursing, pediatrics or community health required.
- -Current Massachusetts RN license required
- -Minimum of BSN preferred
- -Current CPR/AED certification required
- -DESE licensed as School Nurse preferred
- -School Nursing/Pediatric/Community Health experience preferred
- -Basic computer skills required
While performing duties of this job, the employee must often remain in a stationary position for considerable periods of time. The employee may be required to occasionally traverse throughout the building. The employee must frequently use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and use hand strength to grasp tools. Frequently operates a computer and other office productivity machinery (i.e., a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer). The employee must be able to input information into a computer and as well as read material from a computer monitor as well as handwritten or printed matter with or without visual aids. The employee must be able to communicate effectively with students, staff members, and the public in person and on the telephone.
The noise level in this environment is quiet to loud depending upon the activity in the particular part of the day and location. The employee interacts with parents, staff members, and the general public. The employee occasionally must meet multiple demands from several people. |
