SUMMARY:

To assist teaching staff with monitoring students during lunchtime and to ensure the wellbeing and safety of students.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The essential functions or duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various type of work that may be performed. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment to the position.

  • Deliver lunches to student location, as needed
  • Assist students in securing trays and handling seating arrangements.
  • Assist students in cleaning up after themselves (spills, wiping tables, disposing of trash, etc).
  • Assist with the cleanliness of the cafeteria tables, and with the flow of lunch service.
  • Assist cafeteria staff in cleaning spills.
  • Report any incidents and accidents that occur during lunchtime to school administration.
  • Supervise students in their performance of lunchroom clean-up responsibilities.
  • Circulate through the cafeteria to ensure the supervision of all students within the area.
  • Dismiss students from the lunchroom in an orderly fashion when lunchtime ends.
  • Respond to emergency situations such as injuries or food allergies in a proactive manner.
  • Perform other appropriate duties as assigned by the building administrator.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED required
  • Successful completion of Criminal Records Check (CORI), and fingerprints

WORK YEAR:    

  • 10 months, 180 days, 5 days per week, Monday – Friday: 10:45 – 1:45 pm
  • Specific schedule to be determined by building principal

While performing duties of this job, the employee may often remain in a stationary position for considerable periods of time. The employee will have also have ample periods of standing and may be required to traverse throughout the building. The employee must frequently use hands and frequently operates a computer and other office productivity machinery (i.e., calculator, copy machine, and computer printer). Physical abilities may also include lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling, stooping/crouching, reaching/handling, talking/hearing conversations, and near/far visual acuity/depth perception/color vision/field. Ability must be able to lift and/or push and pull 15 to 20lbs for short periods, and walk up and down stairs several times a day. The employee must be able to communicate effectively with students, staff members, and the public in person and on the telephone.
