SUMMARY:
Hudson Maynard Adult Learning Center at Hudson High School is seeking ESOL instructors. 1 position open for Tuesday and Thursday nights. Hours are 6:30-9:00 pm (report to site at 5:30 pm). In-person instruction is required, but the ability to teach remotely through Zoom may also be necessary on snow days. Classes are offered September to June.
DESE/ACLS Grant-funded Teacher Pay Rate: $36.25 per hour of instruction plus paid prep time.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Adhere to the curriculum of the Adult Learning Center program
- Provide instruction in speaking, listening, and writing English skills
- The ESOL Instructor will effectively implement our digital literacy curriculum to enhance student learning and increase student progress
- Comply with all school regulations and policies at all times
- Take attendance and document daily notes
- Ensure classroom and work is kept clean and orderly
- Uphold an orderly classroom environment and provide a positive learning experience
- Conduct instruction remotely via Zoom, if needed
- Participate in staff development to continually improve the services
- Work with program staff to deliver effective programming that motivates students to persist and succeed
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree required
- Experience with English Language Learners (ELLs) required
- Associates/Bachelor’s degree preferred
- DESE licensure or TESOL preferred
- Experience with remote instruction, digital literacy,and distance learning preferred
- Experience with Google Suite, Windows, Zoom, preferred
- Successful completion of Criminal Records Check (CORI), and fingerprints
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Hudson School Committee’s policy on evaluation or in accordance with union contract.
While performing duties of this job, the employee may often remain in a stationary position for considerable periods of time. The employee will have ample periods of standing and may be required to traverse throughout the building. The employee must frequently use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and use hand strength to grasp tools. Frequently operates a computer and other office productivity machinery (i.e., calculator, copy machine, and computer printer). Physical abilities may also include lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling, stooping/crouching, reaching/handling, talking/hearing conversations, and near/far visual acuity/depth perception/color vision/field. Ability must be able to lift and/or push and pull 15 to 20lbs for short periods, and walk up and down stairs several times a day. The employee must be able to communicate effectively with students, staff members, and the public in person and on the telephone.
