Position:                      Adult Education - Digital Literacy Assistant (Part Time)

Reports to:                  Director of Adult Learning

Overview: Under the direction of the Director of Adult Learning, the Digital Literacy Assistant will deliver ongoing digital literacy programming as well as support the delivery of in-classroom Digital Literacy needs. This position requires a tech savvy individual who is comfortable dealing with diverse adult learners as well as using various platforms to facilitate and support the digital literacy programming sessions.

 

DESE/ACLS Grant-funded Pay Rate: $30.00 per hour


Responsibilities:

  1. Assist students, teachers and staff in navigating the various Digital Literacy resources such as Google Classroom, Northstar Digital Literacy, Burlington English, IXL among others.
  2. Provide leadership and expertise in digital literacy and learning
  3. Collaborate with the Lead teacher and educators to integrate research and digital literacy skills into the classroom curricula and curate relevant digital literacy resources for teachers
  4. Assist in the distribution and collection of Chromebooks at the beginning and at the end of the Program
  5. Work collaboratively to maintain digital literacy resources, supplies, equipment, and space
  6. Perform other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Director of Adult Learning.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree
  2. Passion for working with adult learners and a diverse school community
  3. Proficiency with various technologies, including PC platforms, Google apps, Canva, and other web-based applications
  4. Positive attitude, strong customer service skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and in a team
  5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  6. Bilingual preferred

Physical Demands:

  1. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  2. Capability to push and pull items up to 50 lbs.
  3. Occasional crawling, kneeling, and ladder climbing.
  4. Regular walking, standing, and sitting.
  5. Use of fine and gross motor skills for assigned tasks.

 

Part Time hours - Monday - Thursday 5:00 -9:00pm

While performing duties of this job, the employee may often remain in a stationary position for considerable periods of time. The employee will have also have ample periods of standing and may be required to traverse throughout the building. The employee must frequently use hands and frequently operates a computer and other office productivity machinery (i.e., calculator, copy machine, and computer printer). Physical abilities may also include lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling, stooping/crouching, reaching/handling, talking/hearing conversations, and near/far visual acuity/depth perception/color vision/field. Ability must be able to lift and/or push and pull 15 to 20lbs for short periods, and walk up and down stairs several times a day. The employee must be able to communicate effectively with students, staff members, and the public in person and on the telephone.
